Keith R. Swanson, MD
Dr. Swanson has practiced Orthopaedic Surgery in Lake Tahoe and the Carson Valley since 1979. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. His Internship was completed in Sacramento, CA at the University of California, Davis Medical Center. After duties as a General Medical Officer with the U.S. Army stationed in Germany , he completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Letterman Army Medical Center, San Francisco, CA and Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in St. Louis, MO. After serving as an Army Orthopaedic Surgeon at Reynolds Army Hospital, Ft. Sill, OK., he entered private practice wtih Tahoe Fracture Clinic in South Lake Tahoe. In 1996, he became one of the founders of Lake Tahoe Orthopaedic Institute. He also was a founding member of the Tahoe Sports Medicine Fellowship which continues to train orthopaedic surgeons in sports medicine techniques. He currently serves as co-director of the Fellowsip.
Dr. Swanson is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is an active memeber of the American Academy Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Swanson specializes in sports injuries including all knee and shoulder problems. He also has special interest in knee and hip joint replacements. He is on the active medical staffs of Barton Memorial Hospital and the Lake Tahoe Surgery Center. He treats patients in the Zepyr Cove, Carson City and Gardnerville Offices.
