Dr Robert E Rupp, MD
Dr. Rupp is an Orthopaedic Surgeon practicing in Lake Tahoe where sports injuries are a common occurrence.
He specializes in sports medicine with a special interest in knee and shoulder injuries. He earned his
medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch and received multiple academic awards
including graduating ranked number one in his medical school class. He trained in Orthopaedic Surgery
at the Medical College of Ohio and became active in Orthopaedic research with numerous national
publications and presentations. Dr. Rupp continues to be active in research and is currently involved
in multiple studies focused on knee and shoulder injuries. Following his Orthopaedic residency,
Dr. Rupp served in the United States Air Force as the Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at Edwards Air
Force Base for four years. During his military career he received the Top Performer Award in officer
training and also the Air Force Commendation Medal. He continued his education with a Sports Medicine
Fellowship in Lake Tahoe and is now one of the Fellowship faculty members training other Orthopaedic
Surgeons from across the country in Sports Medicine and Trauma.
Dr. Rupp is a board certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic
Surgeons. He is a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and is the Chief of Orthopaedic
Surgery at Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe.
